I often get asked how I have achieved the various hair colours I have sported in the past. I thought it would be easier to provide all the relevant information in one page.

WHITE

To achieve this shade your hair needs to be a pale yellow, like the inside of a banana. Imade my own toner using a smidge of La Riche Directions hair dye in violet mixed with white conditioner until it looks very pale, similar to the following:

I would leave this on for about 1-2 hours. I find this method better than any other toners as I find it lasts longest (around a month, only really needed topping up as roots would appear) and it is also extremely cost effective.

SILVER/LIGHT GREY

To achieve this colour, again you hair will need to be a pale yellow like this inside of a banana. This colour is simple to achieve just by using a silver hair dye. My favourites are by La Riche Directions and Stargazer. I find Stargazer easier to apply due to it being in an applicator bottle. I’d leave this on for around 2 hours.

MEDIUM/DARK GREY

To achieve this shade I used a mix of Wella Koleston Perfect in shades 0/81 and 0/11 at a ratio of about 3:1 and then 30vol peroxide.

Whilst I loved this shade a lot, the upkeep was a fucking bitch and just not worth it. Every time I’d wash it, it would just fade back to blonde an to save dying all the time I had to use a grey steel colour mousse to keep it up and match my extensions.

GETTING FROM JET BLACK TO BLEACH/PLATINUM BLONDE, WHITE OR SILVER

This is a VERY damaging and difficult process. If you don’t have a lot of hair dye experience or lack confidence always go to the hairdressers when going from dark to light.

I managed this process in about a week as I am extremely impatient and hated having black hair that much. I would NEVER EVER EVER  recommend doing it in that short amount of time as  your hair will hate you and several inches will be sacrificed.

First i used Colour B4 extra strength twice

I then bleached it five or six times using 40vol developer and a blue bleach powder, which got it to a really pale ginger that was patchy. I then used Schwarzkopf Live XXL in ice blonde to lift it a tiny bit more, even it out and tone out the ginger.

The amount of times you have to bleach it might vary depending on the build up of dark dye (how long you’ve been dying your hair basically) and how stubborn your hair is.

I’d always recommend (if you can cope with ginger hair) doing no more than two bleachings and then wait a few days to a week between each following bleach, and condition the fuck out of it in the time between. Also, try to only shampoo hair once a week because the natural scalp oils are fab at protecting the hair from bleach.

I had to trim a lot off my already short hair and I had a bit of a mullet going on for a bit, my hair was ridiculously damaged. However, remember you can avoid this by being more patient than me.

I’ve been using Lee Stafford’s hair growth treatment aka “treatment for hair that doesn’t grow past a certain length” weekly since that hair torture, and despite what I’ve put it through since (about 4 different hair colours), my hair is in amazing condition and has noticeably thickened a lot.

HAIR EXTENSIONS

I use the 20”-22” set from headkandy.com in the Bunny Blonde shade which you can find here. They’re 180 grams and I absolutely adore them and will be sticking to them from now on.

I also use a 15” weft that I made from two 70 gram sets on casual days and also wear them with my Head Kandy set as I like layers and very BIG hair. I made this weft by sizing and layering to fit my head and glueing it all together with a hot glue gun. You can find these on eBay here.

All together I wear 310 grams.
